Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
After the tragedy, public personalities shared divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have acted when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
