The President Invites Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy led the government to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
