Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated After Nine-Month Period in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American youth who spent a nine-month period in Israel's custody without being charged has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

The US state department applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization right after being freed, family members reported.

They said he is pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

Through an official statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after being subjected to Israel's abuse and brutal treatment over several months."

US officials said it would continue to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," the department emphasized.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, urging greater action for his freedom.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits nor direct contact following the detention, learning information solely what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

He stayed absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and homicide.

An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, report instances of mistreatment and torture.
