Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating violence and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving gripping, politically driven tales. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the essence of people through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our shared irreverent, ambitious style to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
