The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Game of the Year award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Adding to the studio's success, the talented actors also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English was named Top Lead Actor for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Top Studio. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards during the event.
Additional standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by experts.
